Episode 235 - "That's Godwin's Law Of Sesame Street"

Welcome ladies and gentleman to a very special 35th episode of the 2nd case file as presented this week by Fair Use Law, the letter A and the number 4. This week we bid a fine ado for a few weeks to our third chair Baker in style by discussing anything and everything but not limited to: Flash mobs going a bit too far, spontaneous holocausts, the directorial portfolio of James Gunn, how best to break the news of having AIDS to Haley Joel Osment, punching tornadoes, and more.

We start things off as we do each and every day in each and every way: with some pornography. Now put that tongue back in your mouth, horny, I'm talking some of James Gunn's PG Pornography, specifically the episode in question: Nailin' Your Wife:

Not to sound like a typical internet geek, but the Japanese do everything better... even flash mobs. Instead of having 100 geeks show up in T-Mobile uniforms at a mall, they all get in the middle of the street and do the Happy Dance from the end of Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. That is, until someone calls the fuzz:

Speaking of weird Japanese dancing, this is a thing. I don't know what kind of thing, but it definitely is a thing:

Recently added to the Xbox Live Arcade service is the incredibly named "Death By Cube," which just might be the goriest game ever. This feat is made that much more impressive due to the fact that it's roster of characters are either boxes or robots:

And finally, pirates the world over were left in aghast tears last week after The Pirate Bay announced a partnership with Rednex. Yes, that Rednex... the band that had the one techno/country hit song cover of Cotton Eye Joe. Their new partnership included featuring Rednex's new song, "Devil's On the Loose," on their mainpage... completely breaking their site's search function in the process. To re-enact the hell internet art thieves had to go through until this was fixed, here's said culprit video and it's about as bad as you'd expect:

Fight Night Botchdown: Botchamania 113

With their recent live broadcast on the Spike TV network, World Wrestling Entertainment-alternative TNA threw the proverbial gauntlet down by featuring the return of Hulk Hogan and others to the national airwaves. Unfortunately, they brought with them a tendencies to avoid the dreaded botch like oh so many wrestling noids. So ladies and gentlemen, I give to you episode 113 of the evergreen Botchamania series, this time with a spotlight high up TNA's backside:

Jersey Shore: Mushroom Kingdom

With MTV's Jersey Shore hitting a triumphant apex of hair gel, pickle juice, and the Situation in tonight's finale, what better way to pay tribute to those proud Guidos and Guidettes who are taking those words back than with a possible look at the casting for the inevitable season 2?

Episode 234 - "What Is This -- Gay Burgertime?"

Welcome soda jerks and fry hops to another fast paced three chaired edition of the Fair Use Law podcast, episode 34 of the second case file. This week the Triceratops Tribunal tackles any and all things including putting fried eggs on burgers, Ric Flair wrestling a bear for our amusement, the consequences of one beating one's Noid, Ernie Reyes Jr's Oscar-nominated turns as Donatello and Kato the Pizza Delivery Guy, the Artie Lange deathwatch, and most importantly: assholes who trick multiple women into marrying him.

I feel we must get the most pressing matter out of the way first: did Ric Flair take care of that bear? The tale this tape will tell can only attest to the fact that he did:

Now, from deep within the calming calmness of comedian Todd Glass' Coma, I give you: The Gas Station. Ironic hipsters, this came out years before Zoolander...

With the Artie Lange Deathclock being moved 1 minute closer to midnight due to a bipartisan panel of global scientists, I feel we should relive the good times. By this, I mean the time Artie Lange was my White Mama:

Many of you might be too young to remember the Noid and why one would want to avoid said Noid. Luckily for you, YouTube isn't just for Yo! Noid NES game speedruns anymore. Here's a delightful PSA from our friends at Domino's to tell us why the Noid loves to ruin pizzas:

Speaking of commercials, video game advertising nowadays is almost an art form. But it can never top the kind of unintentional, life changing goodness Mattel produced for the Intellivision port of Burger Time:

And finally, we end on a new high note in low. Ernie Reyes Jr made every attempt in the early 90s to become the next awesome, extreme sports Chuck Norris. But sadly, by the time Ninja Turtles 3 came along, he was back under the pounds of foam as Donatello to do his stunts and kicks. One of these failed attempts? The Rob Schneider-as-a-teenager epic Surf Ninjas:

Seeing the future just might be the only use anyone has ever had for a Sega Game Gear

Sylar Is Bringing Sexy Back!

With tonight being another new episode of Heroes before the Winter Olympics, and one that promises to be Sylar-centric as well, there's no better way to celebrate than by having everyone's favorite telekinetic serial killer bring sexy back. Good Music You Should Know About - Fat

Many years ago, as a teenage boy with blossoming interests in music, I heard a new band's single on the radio. That band was Fat and the song was Numb. So catchy was the song that I went and bought the CD post-haste from my BMG Music account. Inside the liner notes of said CD, I noticed the band was only 2-3 people and there was listings for something called "Programming." Yes, imagine the irony of me, keyboard player in a band that doesn't have a drummer, not knowing what programming was. Yet I loved Fat and eventually branched out to all music programmed. To share the wealth of this very very underrated and obscure band, here is the video that set me down my electronic rock path - Numb:

Video Game Music Sorbet: Sonic CD

Every week here at the Fair Use Law Casino Zone we like to lounge back on a pinball slot machine and chill out to the greatest elevator video game music of yesteryear. With the week Sonic the Hedgehog has had (being named the only playable character in Project Needlemouse and having more possible racers in Sega & Sonic All-Star Racing announced) what better way to relax than with the background sounds of Sonic CD. CD is even in the title! So please to enjoy:

Episode 233 - "He Graduated By Attrition"

This week in a special 2009 wrap up of the Fair Use Law podcast, the triceratops tribunal waxes nostalgic all over episode 33 of the second case file. Topics discussed include our favorite music and stand up comedy CDs of the year as well as our favorite and least favorite movies seen in the theaters. We also flashback to Lil’ Danger Dan and Lil’ Baker as they discuss graduating high school and attend an alcohol free graduation party, how to graduate high school by influencing people, how not to mount the Brain Scrambler, and the risks of asking a DJ to play Dead or Alive’s You Spin Me (Like A Record).

We start off these show notes with the lead music video for what Dan thinks is the best CD of the year, "Kick the Bass" by Julien K. A bit of a NSFW warning on this, but the scantily clad female models just might make this song better in retrospect:

The topic of movie of 2009 also came up, with District 9 definitely being a front runner. But could District 9 be done even better? I think a little Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth Class could help:

Baker's pick for one of the best movies of 2009 has led to some unintended consequences. The "Avatar Blues" has hit one fan forum, where some people who saw Avatar feel depression for not being part of the movie. Unlike in the past, where insane, crazy fandom postings were ignored by the mainstream media, surely there's not a lot going on to cover so CNN is reporting on this as if it's legit news:

Breaking CNN News: According to a fan message board, the Joker and Batman in the Dark Knight might be gay? Since someone was crazy enough to post it, CNN is futile to not report it.

Todd Glass' Thin Pig is definitely near the top of our top stand up comedy CDs of 2009. But it's release by Comedy Central Records didn't go off without a hitch. Todd had to take matters into his own hands, it seems, and we have video evidence:

And finally, Dan's pick for best stand up comedy CD of 2009 was Matt Braunger's "Soak Up The Night." Here's Matt's appearance on David Letter to show you why Dan is such a good judge of comedy:

Ludvig Borga Is Hating America In Heaven Now

Tony Halme has had one hell of a life. As Ludvig Borga, he debuted in the WWF in the height of Lex Luger's "Lex Express" tour to celebrate America. Determined to point out just how horrible he felt Luger's country was, he cut many promos expressing his disdain at the American dream, such as this one:

During his short WWF stay, he also managed to end the Native American Tatanka's almost 2 year winning streak. After that, he went on to the world of boxing, retiring with a record of 13 wins, 6 losses, and no draws. He even had a debut match in Ultimate Fighting, fighting against another brand new debuting fighter: Randy Couture. Sure, he lost, but Randy was destined to become one of the biggest ultimate fighters in history, so no sweat off Tony's proud Finnish sack.

After that he went on to do what any former wrestler/boxer/ultimate fighter would do: campaign for and win a seat in Finnish parliament. During this time he also managed to write 4 books and... wait, this can't be right... released a CD? Surely this is all a fevered dream and there's no music video evidence of this, right? Oh, there is? Yay!

He was like a modern day Falco he was...

Video Game Music Sorbet: Quake II

Every Saturday here at the Fair Use Law thunderdome, we like to take up our battle stations and fight to a bloody and ultimately satisfying climax of death and gore. Sometimes, we even do it to the music of some of our favorite video games of the past! This week we sparred for Sparta to the electro-rock beats of Quake II. Unfortunately overshadowed by Trent Reznor/Nine Inch Nails' involvement in the first installment, Sonic Mayhem actually crafted a great soundtrack that was a complete 180 from the first game's more ambient approach to scoring:

Cutey Grunty: Banjo Kazooie... But Oh So Wrong

What do you get when you mix one of the most fan service-ladden animes of all times with the almost-too-cutesy platforming and vehicle fun of an anthropomorphic bird and bear? I don't know what it is, and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to like it, but here it is and I do!

Good Music You Should Already Know About - Flight of the Conchords

Really this band should come with absolutely no introduction on a page such as this. Flight of the Conchords, New Zealand's 4th best novelty folk band, released their debut CD last year just in time for their second and final season of their hilarious HBO special. While the CD consisted entirely of songs from their first season which already had music video-esque scenes shot for all of them, they still released a legit, self-contained music video for Ladies of the World that I didn't know about until just now. Enjoy it today!

Episode 232 - "There Is No Lube To Be Had"

Welcome Holiday & New Years recoverers to the 32nd episode of the second Fair Use Law case file. In this post-Christmas recorded free association theater, the triceratops tribunal discuss Billboard’s recent proclamation that Nickelback is the band of the decade, how Nigerian princes could secretly be a front for a delightfully scary mid-flight fireworks show to Detroit, and how MTV has bypassed the superstars and given the year end awards directly to Auto-Tune. Baker and Dan also fight to the geeky nerd death over Avatar ala the scene in the Cable Guy that was really a tribute to Star Trek.

As Avatar continues to break box office records, I can't seem to shake the feeling that I've lived through this experience once before in 2D...

Auto-Tune, you might have been pervasive enough to get your own MTV Top 9 of 2009 list, but ask not what you have done to Auto-Tune, ask what Auto-Tune has done to you:

Just in time for 2010, a brand new 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System game! Ladies and gentlemen, warm up your powergloves and unwrap your powermats, I bring you Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril!

And finally, our 2010 gift to you, I give you a video preview of the now available for download Futurama: Invaders... Possibly from Space!

The Return Of Heroes... Set To Music

With Heroes returning in a flashy 2-hour fashion tonight, the Fair Use Law HQ is being swamped in preparation for the live Heroes Twittercast starting at 8 PM EST. Before one of us blows an artery, maybe it's time for some more Sylar music video omake, this time made all the better by being soundtracked by the far-superior-to-the-CD-version of Celldweller's Switchback, a song you no doubt have heard in dozens of commercials:

Wrestling Needs More Calamari

In America, we get a touching drama about the life of a former mainstream professional wrestler, desperate to hold on to his former glory while trying to keep his personal life together. In Japan, we get the touching story of a wrestler trying to win both the belt and the heart of the woman he loves... while also being a giant squid. Japan wins again!
